Auto transport · OEM & haulaway

Capacity for OEM and haulaway programs.

New vehicles leave Southeast plants by rail and by truck. The haulaway carriers that hold the OEM contracts lean on subhaul carriers when volume outruns their own fleets. We are an asset-based car hauler eleven miles from BMW Plant Spartanburg, and we want that work: plant-to-dealer, ramp-to-dealer and overflow runs on our own trucks.

Does Prime Trans haul for OEMs?

Prime Trans, a Spartanburg car hauler with 8 open trucks, offers subhaul and overflow capacity to the haulaway carriers that hold OEM finished-vehicle contracts. It holds no OEM contract today and says so. It carries $1,000,000 auto liability and $1,000,000 cargo per load, and it runs high-mount rigs for load-count work.

Mileage is approximate, and measured to the town where a manufacturer publishes no street address. Three plants aren't building vehicles yet, and we don't pretend they are: Scout Motors in Blythewood targets first deliveries in 2028, Rivian's Georgia plant is due to start in late 2028, and Ford's Tennessee Truck Plant is due to start in 2029.

How OEM work reaches a carrier our size

Through the haulaway carriers, mostly.

OEMs award finished-vehicle contracts to large haulaway carriers. Several of those carriers publish programs for subhaul carriers: Proficient Auto Logistics and its Hansen & Adkins business, United Road, ACERTUS, GLOVIS and VASCOR among them. Those are the programs we are pursuing. Proficient, for example, publishes subhauler minimums of active DOT and MC authority, $1 million auto liability, $1 million general liability, and $500,000 cargo for loads of eight or more vehicles or luxury brands. Our insurance already meets that.

What we bring

Enough to run a lane every day, and no more than we have.

  • Load countHigh-mount rigs carrying seven to nine units, plus 3-car low pros for dealer-direct singles and tight drops.
  • InsuranceAuto liability $1,000,000, cargo $1,000,000 per load and $350,000 per vehicle, general liability $1,000,000.
  • RecordAn eBOL with timestamped photos of every unit at origin and at delivery, in the damage format your program asks for.
  • LocationEleven miles from BMW Plant Spartanburg, on I-85 between Atlanta and Charlotte.
  • Size8 trucks and 8 drivers. We'll take a lane we can run every day, not a territory we would have to broker.

Honest scope: Prime Trans holds no OEM contract today. We are a small carrier asking for overflow and subhaul lanes, one lane at a time, and we won't claim a program we're not on. When we're on one, this page will say which.

Questions shippers ask

Straight answers

Are you an OEM-approved carrier?

Not today. OEM finished-vehicle work is awarded to haulaway carriers, and we are pursuing subhaul and overflow lanes with them. When we're on a program, this page will name it.

What insurance do you carry for new-vehicle loads?

$1,000,000 auto liability, $1,000,000 cargo per load with $350,000 per vehicle, and $1,000,000 general liability. Certificates come from our agent with you named as the certificate holder.

Can you run a dedicated plant-to-dealer lane?

Yes, if we can cover it every day with our own trucks. See Dedicated lanes: assigned trucks, a stated service standard, and a rate reviewed every quarter.

Do you work inside port processing yards?

No. We don't work inside port terminals or on-port processing yards. For us, new-vehicle work means plant, rail ramp or distribution yard to the dealer.

A unit on the lot costs you every day it sits there.

Tell us where the units are, where they are going, how many and when. A written quote comes back the same business day, from the carrier that will haul them.
