Auto transport

Car hauling on our own trucks.

Open car hauling for dealerships, auction buyers, exporters and the haulaway carriers, run by a Spartanburg carrier that answers the phone, sends its own truck and photographs every unit at both ends.

What kind of car hauling does Prime Trans do?

Prime Trans runs open car hauling on its own trucks out of Spartanburg, SC: dealer trades and deliveries, pickups at Manheim, America's Auto Auction, Copart, IAA and ADESA, auction units to exporters' warehouses, and overflow for OEM haulaway programs. It uses high-mount rigs for seven to nine units, 3-car low pros for tight lots, and winch trucks for non-runners.

What we move

The moves that fill a Southeast car hauler's week.

  • Dealer trades: store-to-store transfers inside a group and between groups, same day or next day.
  • Auction to frontline: Manheim Charlotte (Concord), Statesville, Darlington and Atlanta; America's Auto Auction Greenville in Greer; Copart, IAA and ADESA. Release handled.
  • Export units: auction to your loading warehouse around Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, New Jersey or Houston. Never into the terminal.
  • Customer home delivery for dealers and online sales, with a signed delivery inspection.
  • Body shop, PDI and recon shuttles: short, frequent and predictable. These are the lanes dedicated agreements are made of.
  • Rental de-fleet: airport and city branches to the auction, on a standing rate.
  • OEM and haulaway overflow: plant-to-dealer runs as a subhauler. We hold no OEM contract today and say so.
  • Non-runners on a winch truck, keys or no keys. Salvage titles are fine when the paperwork is in order.
How a move runs

Documented at both ends, tracked in between.

  1. 01

    Dispatch and confirmation

A rate confirmation or dealer-vendor order with the units, VINs, contacts, release or gate PIN, and hours. The pickup window is confirmed in writing.

  2. 02

    Pickup inspection

Walk-around photos of every panel, the VIN, the odometer and the interior go on the eBOL, timestamped and shared with you before the truck leaves.

  3. 03

    Delivery and POD

The same photo set at delivery and a receiver signature on the eBOL. Proof of delivery goes out the same day, and the invoice carries the photo record.

Pricing basis

Per unit or per loaded mile, with fuel stated separately.

Repeat lanes are priced per unit, with a fuel surcharge tied to the U.S. DOE weekly diesel index so neither side eats a fuel swing. One-time moves are quoted flat.

Questions shippers ask

Straight answers

High-mount or low pro: which truck will I get?

Whichever fits the job. A high-mount rig carries seven to nine units and runs the auction loads, full dealer loads and long lanes. A 3-car low pro handles tight lots, singles and customer deliveries. The longer answer is in the car hauler guide.

Can you move a car that does not run?

Yes, on a truck with a winch. Some of our trucks have one, so tell us at booking which units don't run and we send the right truck. An undisclosed non-runner is a dry run and a second trip.

Do you ship cars for individuals?

Yes, when the move is on or near our lanes. Most of our work is for dealers, auction buyers and exporters, but a private car rides the same trucks. See car shipping for individuals.

How is a car-hauling move priced?

Per unit, by distance and by how many units ride together, with fuel stated separately on repeat lanes. One-time moves are quoted flat. Accessorials are listed below and on every quote, not discovered on the invoice.

A unit on the lot costs you every day it sits there.

Tell us where the units are, where they are going, how many and when. A written quote comes back the same business day, from the carrier that will haul them.
