Time-critical freight, and an honest transit estimate.
Expedited means the delivery time is the specification and everything else bends around it. That is a real service, and it is also the easiest thing in trucking to over-promise. We quote transit against the driver's actual hours of service, which means the number we give you is the number that happens.
Illustrative photography — not Prime Trans equipment. What is expedited freight?
Expedited freight is truckload capacity dispatched to meet a specific delivery time rather than a normal schedule. The truck carries only that load, runs direct, and may use two drivers so it can keep moving while one rests. It costs more per mile than standard truckload service.
The clock, not the map.
A solo driver may drive eleven hours within a fourteen-hour window and then must take ten hours off. At highway speed that is roughly six hundred miles in a day, not the nine hundred that a mileage calculator implies. Two drivers running as a team can keep the truck moving nearly continuously, which is what actually buys you a day — and it is why team service costs what it costs.
| Lane from Spartanburg | Distance | Solo transit | Team transit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Atlanta, GA | about 195 mi | Same day | Same day |
| Nashville, TN | about 390 mi | Same day | Same day |
| Dallas, TX | about 1,010 mi | 2 days | About 1 day |
| Houston, TX | about 990 mi | 2 days | About 1 day |
| Minneapolis, MN | about 1,140 mi | 2 to 3 days | About 1.5 days |
Those are driving-time estimates from our own lanes, not marketing numbers. Weather, loading time and the hour of day you release the freight all move them, and we will say so when they do.

Honest scope: we are a 6-truck carrier with two scheduled long lanes. On those lanes we are genuinely fast and genuinely reliable. Off them, a national expedited network with a thousand trucks will beat us and we will tell you so.
Straight answers
How much faster is team service?
On a thousand-mile lane it typically saves a full day, because the truck keeps moving instead of stopping for a ten-hour reset. Under about six hundred miles it usually saves nothing at all, because a solo driver covers that inside one day anyway.
What does expedited freight cost?
More per mile than scheduled capacity, because the truck carries only your load and may deadhead to reach you. We quote it as a flat trip rate with the empty miles included so there is no second conversation about it later.
Can you guarantee a delivery time?
We commit to a delivery window and we tell you immediately if anything threatens it. Nobody can guarantee a delivery time through weather or a road closure, and a carrier who says otherwise is telling you what you want to hear.
What is the difference between expedited and hotshot?
Size. A hotshot is a small load on a smaller truck, usually regional. Expedited is a full truck running long distance against a hard delivery time, sometimes with two drivers.
